It was a rule I broke
that would lead me to find
a person who was actually kind.
A person I barely know,
and has had the courtesy to say "Hello".
Tons of meters away we are
and yet with social media
it isn't that far.
This person may not know me
nor I truly know her,
but I might call her
my amigo, my ami, my friend.
Thank you for the days
that you have made me smile,
with the simple messages,
and polite words.
Thank you for making me feel like
I am worth something,
when it is not your responsibility.
This is just a thank you,
for being there when my "friends" are not.
